Minecraft is about placing blocks to build anything you can imagine in the virtual world. You can build anything you imagine with LEGO bricks in the physical world. Minecraft and LEGO were meant to be together.

xkcd: Online Communities 2 - wherein all of you community wranglers, providers, managers, participants, collaborators, lurkers, gamers, n00bs, bloggers, over-sharers and digital citizens of all colors are shown on a virtual map, updated to reflect the 2010 landscape, and social pathways. (Remember 2007? yeah it was a long time ago in internet years, right?) The new double oh ten “community map” is very neat to explore, in a LoTR geek out kind of way. It reminds me of the Zork maps I’d pencil out on standard rule paper to master that mind boggling interactive text adventure game on my Commodore64 as a kid. (I’ve always lived online in one form or another I guess.) Zoom in for some very neat online subculture territories. Now take a dramatic pause - this map is the inset of the larger mind map of understanding the basis of person to person communication and story-telling digital or otherwise. From an online community perspective, it is equally important to understand that as with our ever shifting virtual geography (the Where), the tectonic shifts of these continents are caused by actions of the Who (Millennials/ Boomers/ Teens/ you/us), doing What (gaming, sharing, writing, status, video) When and How(real-time and mobile) which together map a path to your distinct answer of Why?  Those math geeks at xkcd ain’t no joke.
Oh HAI, IM IN UR INTERTUBEZ, droppin ur knowledge. Do me a favor, don’t retweet this. Answer me these questions three, er let’s make it four. Where are you from, friend? What is your name? What is your quest? What is your favorite color? :)

Social media has developed its own economy. And every economy runs on a currency that is constantly being earned, spent, invested, and lost.

Eric Fulwiler explains It’s not trust. It’s social capital.

Tumblin' down the rabbit hole

Morpheus: I imagine that right now, you're feeling a bit like Alice. Hmm? Tumbling down the rabbit hole?

Neo: You could say that.

Morpheus: I see it in your eyes. You have the look of a man who accepts what he sees because he is expecting to wake up. Ironically, that's not far from the truth. Do you believe in fate, Neo?

Neo: No.

Morpheus: Why not?

Neo: Because I don't like the idea that I'm not in control of my life.

Morpheus: I know *exactly* what you mean. Let me tell you why you're here. You're here because you know something. What you know you can't explain, but you feel it. You've felt it your entire life, that there's something wrong with the world. You don't know what it is, but it's there, like a splinter in your mind, driving you mad. It is this feeling that has brought you to me. Do you know what I'm talking about?

Neo: The Matrix.

Morpheus: Do you want to know what it is?

Neo: Yes.

Morpheus: The Matrix is everywhere. It is all around us. Even now, in this very room. You can see it when you look out your window or when you turn on your television. You can feel it when you go to work... when you go to church... when you pay your taxes. It is the world that has been pulled over your eyes to blind you from the truth.

Neo: What truth?

Morpheus: That you are a slave, Neo. Like everyone else you were born into bondage. Into a prison that you cannot taste or see or touch. A prison for your mind.
