Why the New iPad is So Huge for Apple
two reasons, paraphrased from Read Write Web’s Dan Frommer, @fromedome:
leader in terms of hardware, software and ecosystem. richer tablet story and more useful than Amazon, Samsung or anyone else in the market.
leader in terms of price to value. quality at the right price… to eclipse the personal computer and offer the real post-PC era of computing for many for the first time.
and so i think…
people can quibble about this spec and that and compare the price tag by 100 here and there, but i can’t help but think they are missing the big picture. dan presents good binoculars for those who can’t see the forest – or the continental shift – for the proverbial trees.

If Facebook is the service with the internet’s most complete (visible) social graph, Twitter is the service with the internet’s most complete (visible) interest graph.

Nathaniel Whittemore on Why the Interest Graph Will Reshape Social Networks

So, what is that in-between area of the venn diagram called, because that’s where the real sparks fly with business and purpose driven social interaction. And do we really need extended graphs in this picture, what does that even mean?

Why Twitter Is Massively Undervalued Compared To Facebook

In this TechCrunch guest post, Naval Ravikant and Adam Rifkin argue why Twitter is undervalued:

"An interest graph differs from the “people you know in real life” social graph in that it is:

  • Built on one-way following rather than two-way friending
  • Organized around shared interests, not personal relationships
  • Public by default, not private by default
  • Aspirational: not who you were in the past or even who you are, but who you want to be

It should already be clear that the interest graph lends itself brilliantly to commerce.

Twitter is in theory even better positioned than Facebook to capitalize on the social interest graph. Its keys components are:

  1. The composition of the social graph
  2. The value of the data flowing through it
  3. The volume of the data

By excelling at all three, Twitter is demonstrably superior to Facebook Pages, at least, along specific axes related to revenue potential.”

me thinks Facebook would argue against this, but I would have to agree; in practice this is true with regards to optimal twitter usage. this really is about being open vs closed.
