Avett setlist

Last night’s set-list. Not totally complete but this is what I remember. I want to gather up the songs from Mipso’s excellent performance also but that will wait for another day…

Musical empowerment 2nd Annual benefit concert at University United Methodist Church in downtown Chapel Hill NC. (Program back page)
We sat fourth row, right side of sanctuary.

My photos of the performance are on Flickr

  1. Joe Kwon, Tania and Paul: Wednesday night waltz
(Paul and Joe have been writing on it for right years according to Joe)
  2. Joe, Tania and Paul: Oliver’s chase written by Tania
  3. Paul and Joe played “dueling cellos” (this may have been a joke title)
  4. Tania’s amazing solo diddy (maybe best of the night IMHO)
  5. Paul leads on singing “Little Sadie” with all five playing on stage
  6. Seth, Scott sing, Joe, Paul, Tania play: I never knew you from The Carpenter
(Scott tells Arthur Smith dueling banjos memorial story)
  7. Seth sings, Scott, Paul, Joe, Tania play: Greenville song aka The Lowering
  8. All: “How long can a man endure?” aka I’ve Endured
  9. Scott sing, All play: Head full of doubt / Road full of promise
(Scott replaced “me” with “you” through two verses)
  10. Seth and Scott sing Amazing grace

This is Joe Kwon’s church, he’s graduated from UNC the year after I graduated from NCSU and he is such a nice guy. So glad we were able to attend this again. Please support this fantastic cause that helps pair young local music students with UNC student teachers and instrument lending program.

Great photos from The Avett Brothers episode of Front and Center on PBS. We were there for the live recording in NYC last September. The Avetts are performing in the premiere episode of the third season and the show started airing tonight in NYC on WLIW 21. So far we can’t find any news about when it will be available online or broadcast locally in North Carolina. If I find out more info or where to find it I’ll update this post.

Update: We found times that the 301 episode will air in Austin (KLRU 4/12 3AM & 6/28 3AM) and Minneapolis (5/4 11PM). Front and Center has told my wife that they will be updating their website soon with full information about the 3rd season including channels to watch the show. They do not sell the broadcasts via DVD. Front and Center is not listed in the regular programming line-up in the PBS streaming video service, Apple TV PBS app or the THIRTEEN app.

Update 2: From UNC-TV facebook page today: “Hi Ryan, Front and Center will begin 5/25 at 2AM with The Avette Brothers episode.”

YAY!!
